Climate Discussion

There is / was a discussion in Copenhagen, Denmark about the climate and possible threat of global warming. Although all the world leaders were supposed to attend, out of the one hundred and thirty-three, seventy-nine sent someone in their place. This includes China, the U.S.A, and Canada. Prime Minister Stephen Harper sent his Environment minister, Jim Prentice, to the meeting in his place.http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/091217/national/climate_where_s_harper
Harper himself went to a dinner hosted by the Queen of Denmark. I suppose it would be fine not to worry about the state of the environment, but it's condition is deteriorating pretty fast, so that makes it a definite concern for the World Leaders, as well as the general public. Doing a lot of little things everyday to save the environment will really help. So don't throw thash on the ground and try to bring a litterless lunch when you go to work / school / to work at school. The environment's condition is becoming worrying very quickly. We should try to do everything we can to prevent the planet from going from now to something completely unlivable. We should take carpools or public transportation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We can do everything to save our planet and every living thing on it.

A New Movie

The movie "Avatar" has come out and according to the critics, has topped (or should top) Cameron's 1997 movie, "Titanic." The plot is a native tribe and a bunch of humans come into conflict over a metal. This link has some information about this film. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/afp/091211/canada/entertainment_britain_us_film_avatar
The film apparently has incredible special affects, as well an exotic location in a dense tropical forest covering a planet called "Pandora." The film director meant for this to be interpreted as a way of treating our natural world right here. I've seen some of the ads for this movie but I can't say that I've got a full feeling for the entire movie. It has been heavily praised by critics, and the public may think similarly. This film, set in the future, is reminiscent of other films set in the future where conflict or open war is involved. For example, the movie "Terminator", where robots and cyborgs attack a human race in hiding. This film (Avatar) seems different in the way that the war is / seems to be controlled by greed of the rare metal, and that two sentient species are fighting each other. This may be an example of how human greediness can fall in conflict when it corresponds with one another has. One of the seven sins is avarice, which I am almost sure means to desire that which others have. It is natural to sometimes feel that way. But when avarice is overwhelming, conflict and wars occur.

Zhua Kuang

This isn't really chinese,it's more like slang, and is widely spoken in Taiwan. I read an article about it, and how it is different than anger. It is an expression which means " to drive someone crazy" although literally translated, it means to (zhua) grab (kuang) madness. Chinese who go on the net have made emoticons representing this (such as >_<) and use it casually, as an expression of frustration. A joke that was in the article, to help people understand this concept, goes like this: "One day, a girl asked her father how to distinguish zhua kuang from anger. He decided to show her. He dialed some random person's phone number, and said, "Can I speak to Mike?" "Sorry, no Mike here." answered a man, and he hung up. The father pressed the redial button and said again, "Can I speak to Mike?" "Wrong number." answered the same man, sounding a little impatient, and he hung up. The father pressed the redial button again. "Didn't I tell you there is no Mike!?" Hung up. Redial. "What is wrong with you!!!" Then the father pressed redial. When the man picked up, the father said, "Hello, I am Mike, did anyone call for me?" lol.
